Why "My Wikipedia"?
Wikipedia is a composite word, namely, wiki — a Hawaiian word meaning "free writing" — and pedia — the suffix appearing in, e.g., "encyclopedia". There is, for example, a website with a variety of local info about Bloomington, IN, and that website is named Bloomingpedia.

Namespaces in this wiki
First, let's handle the jargon: laymen might well think of namespace as a synonym for project or field of enquiry. That said, this wiki houses several projects: a few provide me with my own sandbox — they are not open to the public. (They are listed here only to set up a quick link from the Main Page.) Most of the projects, though, welcome public scrutiny. A registered user may edit any page that is publicly accessible; he may also create new pages.
